The people behind the retreats

Teachers

Every retreat is led by one or two teachers who stay in the house all week. They know the group by name, adapt the programme to the weather and the mood, and are around between sessions too.

Yoga · hatha and restorative

Teacher A

Teacher A has taught hatha and restorative yoga for many years, first in a small studio in town and now mostly on retreats and week-long courses. Classes are built slowly: long-held postures, plenty of support from bolsters and blankets, and enough time to notice what changed before moving on.

What matters most to her is that nobody has to perform. Every posture has an easier version, and anyone who wants to skip a session skips it. Many guests arrive with a full calendar and only realise on the third day how tired they actually are; that is exactly what the week is for.

Outside the retreats she teaches courses for people starting again after an injury or a long break.

Pilates · mat and reformer

Teacher B

Teacher B came to pilates through sport and now teaches mat and reformer, in groups and one to one. Sessions are precise and calm: few exercises, done carefully, with close attention to breath, the trunk and the small muscles everyday life forgets about.

On retreats he pairs strength with recovery. Mornings are for work, afternoons leave time for mobility and stretching, and anyone who brings back or neck trouble gets their own variations. Some experience helps, but it isn't needed.

Yoga and mountain walking

Teacher C

Teacher C grew up in the mountains and is as happy teaching vinyasa and hatha yoga as she is leading groups along alpine paths. The yoga prepares for the day outside and helps you land afterwards: flowing and awake in the morning, slow and close to the floor in the evening.

The walks are not about summits. She chooses routes the whole group can manage, takes long breaks and points out what grows along the way. When the weather is uncertain she decides in the morning which route makes sense, and always has a shorter one ready.

In winter she teaches in the valley and leads snowshoe walks.
